Observing A Student

Please note: This new feature may allow you to receive many notifications from the students you are observing.

You may want to modify your Canvas Notifications for better control over these notifications. Please review this article for more information.

Log in to Canvas to see your dashboard

If you are a Teacher (Directed Support), you will still see the courses that you are officially teaching or otherwise enrolled in as a co-teacher.

Towards the top right, you should see your name in a drop-down menu.

Click on that drop-down menu to reveal the student(s) that you are assigned to

Select one of the students to see their current enrollments in Canvas

From that view, you will be able to see their:

• Grades
• Assignments - past/present/missed
• Due Dates
• Feedback (if any provided by teachers)
• "To do" items, etc.

Anything that the student can see, you can see with the exception of Google assignments. (*******This is a known issue that we have no control over, until Google modifies their roles and permissions ***)

You have view only access to this specific student's information. You will not be able to submit or resubmit assignments, post to discussions, take quizzes, etc.

When you need to view a different student, please go back to the dashboard by selecting the icon from the left navigation. 

Now you can select a different student using the drop-down menu again.
